Ancient Forest Friendly

The Ancient Forest Friendly™ logo represents the highest and most comprehensive standards for environmental responsibility in the paper industry. In order to be Ancient Forest Friendly™, a paper must be manufactured with a high percentage of post-consumer waste and contain no virgin fiber from old-growth, ancient or endangered forests. Any virgin fiber used in the paper must be both FSC® certified and assessed to not originate from endangered forests. Bleaching must be chlorine free, without the use of chlorine or chlorine compounds.

LIFE CYCLE ASSESSMENT

New Leaf Paper® commissioned a life cycle assessment (LCA) study that compares the environmental and human health impact levels of Reincarnation 100, to paper made in three paper mills from virgin fiber sources. This study considered the full range of environmental and human-health issues associated with the production of paper products, to ensure a complete and fair comparison.

Processed Chlorine Free

“Processed chlorine-free” refers to recycled paper in which the recycled content is unbleached or bleached without chlorine or chlorine derivatives. Dioxins and other toxins and pollutants created by chlorine and its derivatives are often referred to as chlorinated organic compounds. The dioxins have been associated with adverse effects on the immune and reproductive systems of humans as well as those of fish and wildlife species. The term Processed Chlorine Free (PCF) is applied only to post-consumer recycled fiber.
